The Oklahoma City 2011 Parade of Homes runs daily from October 15th through October 23rd. Times are 1:00pm to 7:00pm. Don't have time to see all 110 homes by 65 builders in 78 neighborhoods during this year's parade? Well, there are 6 Featured Neighborhoods. This years' featured neighborhoods area Rose Creek, Iron Horse Ranch, Parke Place, Settler's Ridge, Ponderosa Estates, and Williamson Farms. Today we'll take a look at Settlers Ridge. Don't forget, Parade of Homes books are available at area Best Buy stores. There's also an iPhone app available through the App Store.
Settler's Ridge
Located in the Oklahoma City limits between Yukon and Mustang, just 10 minutes West of downtown, Settler’s Ridge successfully blends a small town atmosphere with big city living. This community provides easy access to the entire metroplex and is only minutes from shopping, dining and the Integris Canadian Valley Hospital. Settler's Ridge is in the Yukon school district. Settler's Ridge is located north of Reno on Cemetary Road (Garth Brooks Blvd) in southwest Yukon.

Parke Place is a community built by award-winning builder, Steve Allen. For many years he has won awards during the Parade of Homes in the luxury home category. Now, Steve Allen has formed AllenStyle homes to build smaller upscale homes. Priced in the $200,000 and up range, AllenStyle homes are built for people wanting the look and feel of luxury custom homes, but in a size that fits their lifestyle. Homes in Parke Place range from 1,700 to 2,500 square feet and are priced at $125.00 per square foot. When complete, Parke Place will have forty-three homes. With one builder, quality will be consistent. Parke Place is located an NW 160th and Rockwell.

The Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association's 2011 Parade of Homes is scheduled to run October 15th through October 23rd. The plan books will be distributed through Best Buy stores and will be available shortly before the parade begins. There are over 100 homes on the parade this year.

The Fairview Farm Neighborhood in Edmond is one of Oklahoma City’s premier gated communities of estate homes. Fairview Farm is located on the northwest corner of NW 150th & Western Ave. This makes for a great location: close to highways, Quail Springs Mall and shopping, the Memorial Road restaurant row and the Mercy Health Center. The lots generally range from ½ acre to 1 acre, although there are some both smaller and larger. A new area within Fairview Farm for those ‘empty nesters’ desiring small lots and low maintenance is The Abbey. There are currently about 125 homes in Fairview Farm and The Abbey with about 75 lots remaining to be built. A large section of Fairview Farm contains a large pond with many homes offering a water view. Access to Fairview Farm is through 4 community gates.

From my Oklahoma City Postcard Collection... Baptist Medical Center opened Easter Sunday , 1959. I would guess this photo is from the mid '60s. It opened as a 200 bed hospital and is now 508 beds. At the time this opened, this was on the outskirts of the city!
